Praying Mantid

Time of year:Fall or anytime if egg case is purchased(allow two months for growth).

Overall Objective: The students will observe, predict, record and report on a series of experiments with a praying mantid to test its visual acuity. They will learn the parts of an eye and compare human and mantid eyes. They will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of safe-guarding eyes and proper eye care.

Includes teacher preparation and the materials needed for the lessons. Also, has links to pertinent activity sheets.

Lesson Plan
Outlines and suggests how to carry out the lessons with relevant links to activity sheets.
