Overall Objective: Through observation, discussion and recording, the students will identify ways that both insects and humans protect themselves from physical and biological hazards in their environment, and what effect this has on their health. They will rear moths that spin silken cocoons from egg to adult in the classroom, observing the complete metamorphosis of the moth. The students will then learn about the importance of trusting their instincts when encountering hazards in their environment.
