Game Directions

Background: Find a space outside on the playground large enough for a game like "Red Rover." Familiarize the students with the wellness and prevention cards. Prepare two sets of cards for the game.
Set-Up: Choose five students to be the Germs. The Germs stand in the middle.

On either side of the Gern set-up the Wellness and Prevention cards. Have the remaining "healthy" students line up in two rows on either side of the Germs and the cards (as pictured).

Background: Find a space outside on the playground large enough for a game like "Red Rover." Familiarize the students with the wellness and prevention cards. Prepare two sets of cards for the game.
The Object: Healthy students try to get to the other side without being touched by a Germ.
The Germs: Germs try to tag healthy students before they get across or pick up a card. If a healthy student is tagged by a Germ, he/she becomes sick and is out and goes to the Nurse's Station to get well. The "sick" students become healthy for the next round.
Cards: The cards give healthy students protection. With a Wellness card, the Germ's touch doesn't work. With a Prevention card, a healthy person can escort a Germ to the side of healthy people.

After playing one round: assess the damage. Return cards to correct piles, empty the Nurse's Station and repeat.

Options:
Remove the Wellness or Prevention cards to see what impact these things have on the healthy people.
